The list of attractions at Antakya is virtually endless. The Great Chalice of Antioch is of special interest. Some others are:

  • The Archeological Museum of Antakya is near the bridge of the Asi. It is renowned for its splendid collection of Roman mosaics. The museum also houses discoveries from the Amuq Plain and some Roman sarcophagi.

  • The Citadel of Antakya dates back to the 11th century. The magnificent remnants of the grand structure sit on a rocky plateau.

  • The four-arched bridge of Diocletian, built in the period 284-305 AD, stands over the Asi.

  • The bridge is a proud symbol of this ancient city and it has retained many historical elements including a Roman eagle.

  • The Habib Neccar Camii is a mosque initially converted from a Byzantine church with a 17th century Minaret. The tombs of saints can still be seen.

  • The ruined crusader castle "Gaston" at Bakras saw the rise and fall of many empires during an eventful history. It is a charming relic of the bygone ages.

  • The Grotto of St Peter is a cave where the Apostle used to preach disciples. In the 13th century was converted into a church with a Gothic facade.

  • The Grove of Daphne is an idyllic spot with magical Greek lores. The verdurous grove is full of laurels, oaks and cypresses a beautiful waterfall only adds to its charm.


The other favorite tourist joints with historical significance are Samandag / Seleukeia Piereia, Sultankalesi, Terbezek and Yogun Oluk.
