Previously hot air ballooning used to be the exclusive domain of the adventure sports aficionados. Though not considered in the same league as extreme sports, many held hot air ballooning as something fraught with immense dangers and therefore to be kept at a distance.

Hot air ballooning gained popularity when tourists realized that it was actually a very safe means to explore otherwise inaccessible terrains. Thus the sport that was once practiced by a handful became a tourist activity, particularly in mountainous regions where there aren`t often very many motorable roads.

In hot air ballooning you have a balloon to which a cane basket is attached and in which the passengers either sit or stand. The balloon is provided with fuel to land and take off by hot air generated by a flame from a burner. The balloon rises when hot air shoots up and blows up its body and loses height when the quantity of hot air being spurted is lessened.

A hot air balloon can typically rise up to a height of 1500 feet. When in flight, the balloon is carried forward by the force of the wind. That is to say, the balloon actually floats in the air.

As you drift across the clear skies, gliding over hills and dales, forests and rivulets, villages and farms, you will feel as if you are resting on a magic carpet that is taking you places. On a calm day, the flight on a hot air balloon is never bumpy. In fact, you will hardly ever feel any movement. High above the ground, all is quiet and serene, the only possible movement being the wind ruffling your curls.

Hot air ballooning is as safe as can be. In fact, as statistics will vouch, road and airplane accidents account for a far higher number of injuries and deaths than hot air ballooning does. Most hot air balloon operators have with them experienced pilots in whose hands, it is guaranteed that nothing can ever go wrong.
