History of Mus

The history of Mus dates back to the 6th century AD. Over the years, it has been ruled by the Urartu, Median, Persian, Byzantine and Sasani civilizations. But its greatest claim to fame lay when it came under the Turkish rule following the battle of Malazgirt in 1070 which marked the entry of the Turks in Anatolia. For a long time, the Seljuks ruled the province until finally after the Caldiran Battle in 1515 it came under the rule of the Ottoman Empire.
