The laws relating to purchase by foreigners have been liberalized considerably. Turkey follows the ‘reciprocity principle.’ That is, if a country allows Turkish nationals to buy property in their land, then nationals of that country will also be allowed to buy property in Turkey. Citizens of UK, US and Europian Union countries qualify by this rule to buy property in Turkey. The only restriction is that foreigners are not allowed to buy property close to military bases. As a Foreigner, you can buy property in your name provided they are in the towns and within the municipal area. Buying property in rural areas and villages is not allowed.
