Ankara Attractions

The first in the list of Ankara's tourist attractions is the Mausoleum of Kemal Ataturk, the founder of Republic of Turkey. The Mausoleum's construction is a blend of ancient and modern architecture. It has an adjacent museum that contains a wax statue of Ataturk, his writings, personal items and other memoirs.

Turkey has an Ethnography museum opposite to the Opera House on Talat Pasa Boulevard in Ulus district. The museum boasts of a marvelous collection of folkloric as well as artifacts of the Seljuk and Ottoman era.

You will find the Museum of Anatolian Civilizations at the Ankara Castle entrance. A Hatian artifact dating back to 3rd Millennium BC, the museum houses rare collection of Paleolithic, Neolithic and Roman artworks.

Besides these there are The Painting and Sculpture Museum, The War of Independence Museum and the TCDD Locomotive Museum-a true treat for museum lovers.
