Istanbul Besides Formula 1

A good reason for you to visit the Formula I racing in Istanbul, is the city of Istanbul itself. It is perhaps one of the best cities in the Formula I calendar. Here you will find a unique mix of the old and the new - historical sites jostling side by side with modern bars and pubs. There are wonderful monuments and minarets of the Ottoman Empire that are worth visiting. You should make time to visit the Suleiman Mosque and the Cagaloglu Hamam, the oldest Turkish bath in Turkey.

The modern Istanbul offers clubs, restaurants and shopping malls that rival those of London or New York. The Beyoglu district in Taksim Square has several belly dancing stages and jazz bars to liven up the nightlife. On the Asian side of the Bosphorus are the Turkish markets with its exotic fare. It is on this side that the circuit is located. You can spend time in the Grand Bazaar shopping for a variety of exotic Turkish goods. Of course tasting typical Turkish kebabs should form an essential part of your itinerary. A good idea would be to extend your stay and visit the Mediterranean coastline and numerous interesting historical sights sprinkled all over Turkey.
